The Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Association was established in 1990. High school students in the grades 9-12 are eligible to join. The PHSRA season runs from August through May and Includes a January rodeo at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. The top four competitors in each event will qualify to advance to the National High School Finals Rodeo to compete with over 1500 contestants.
In 2004, Pennsylvania established the Jr High division, which is for youth in grades 6, 7 & 8. The Jr High Division contestants compete at all of the PHSRA rodeos. They can qualify to compete at the National Jr Finals Rodeo held for 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
Most of the rodeos are held at arenas all across PA.  The PHSRA provides an excellent opportunity for young people to advance in their sport while making life long friends with other contestants throughout the North East United States.
